About Dr. Blakeman

Dr. Blakeman is a licensed psychologist, with specialized training and experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.  In the course of obtaining her PhD from Auburn University, Dr. Blakeman selected training opportunities that focused primarily on meeting the psychological needs of youth, including an early intervention program, a facility for incarcerated youth, and community mental health.  In addition, Dr. Blakeman completed a full-time pre-doctoral internship at the Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship in the pediatrics department of the Medical University of South Carolina.  Additional postdoctoral supervision and training was obtained under the direction of Dr. Jay Inwald, a pediatric neuropsychologist, at the offices of Neurobehavioral Consultants in Bingham Farms, Michigan.  This extensive training has allowed Dr. Blakeman to obtain expertise in the area of child assessment and treatment, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, behavior problems, emotional struggles, and issues related to adjusting to chronic illness.

Our Goals

To provide comprehensive evaluation services for identifying learning disabilities, attention disorders, processing impairments and other conditions that are interfering with a child's ability to succeed academically

To impart knowledge to parents so that they will know what types of interventions, supports, and accommodations will be necessary for their child's success

To provide research supported treatment interventions

To teach children effective coping strategies for managing their behavioral and emotional struggles

To help children reach their maximum potential emotionally, socially, and academically

On a personal note, Dr. Blakeman is married with two young boys and understands the struggles of families to do what is best for their children while also meeting the demands of our often very busy, hectic lives.
